“Sometimes, I’m not sure if I’m adequate. Do I need to stand up more? Do I need to do different movements?”

Dance, as a craft, has long celebrated and demanded perfection in movement and body type. But what if you’re just not built the same way?

RICE invites seasoned host and actress Munah Bagharib to sit down in candid conversations with two dance artists, Ka Wai and Germaine. Ka Wai’s physical disability stems from missing bones in his arms and legs, while Germaine faces communication barriers due to her autism.

This video was crafted in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, as part of da:ns focus – EveryBody, one of the arts centre’s recurring themed dance weekends. da:ns focus – EveryBody spotlights inclusivity, diversity and participation, where everybody and every body can come and experience dance.
